hello there
Upon A Child is a poem by Robert Herrick in 1648. it was my firt poem i read in college after surlly "Twinkle, Twinkle" at school........loooooool
This is really short poem but it is full of meanings
Here a pretty Baby lies
Sung asleep with Lullabies:
Pray be silent, and not stirre
Th'easie earth that covers her.
as we see n the first line the speaker is talking about a beautiful child lieing in his\her bed or what ever the place the child lied, then in the second line the speaker tells us that the baby fall sleep in the melody of the famous song that occur in babybed toys,For example(Na Na Na Na Na, La La La La La).in the third line the speaker pleases us to be quiet and to stuck to our places to not wake the baby. The big surprise occur in the last line that shows us that the baby is already dead and newly buried
yes, it is really great poem. He just change the meaning of the whple poem by one line at the end. when i took this poem in the first time , the teacher didn't tell us that we must memorized it, but i couldn't read it with out memorized it
